I have a new project in the works, which I hope to have an announcement about sometime shortly.

Here are a few hints:

-Part of it is web based
-Part of it is live
-Some of it will cost big bucks

More on this as it develops . . .

  1. An idea that comes up now and then is some sort of analyst/expert recommendation/prediction tracking.. that would be interesting but would take some balls. Maybe you are that guy.

Barry + Live + Web Based + Big Bucks.

    Hmm

Something tells me that a lot of Coogi Sweaters are about to go on sale on EBay. I call dibs on the one I saw him wearing on TV a few months ago.

I saw an ad for a programmer recently on Craigslist and thought, “I bet that’s the Big Picture guy . . . ”

    Am I right?

  6. matt wilbert says:

“Trading with the Stars”. The big bucks would be the money which would be lost.

  7. Mark says:

    Dear Mr. Bynocerus-

As the sole marketing agent for The Big Picture casual line of menswear, we can not comment upon the rumors that this site will be showing interactive, web-based, dress and undress holograms of Alan Greenspan and Larry Kudlow as part of our Springtime roll-out of the entire Big Picture line. Our agreement with Mr. Ritholtz simply forbids us from verifying this at this time. We hope that you and all readers here understand.

    Sincerely,

    Mark McCormack, President
    “The Sweater” Marketing Group LLC

    I know.
Barry’s gonna host a TV show where he runs around shouting stock tips with his sleeves rolled up, pounding his fists on a desk, and chewing off the heads of styrofoam farm animals.

  9. Bynocerus says:

    Mr. McCormack

How about Greenspan wearing NOTHING but a sweater, ala Mr. Burns from the Simpsons during the first (or was it second or third) season?

Seriously, I think Barry should steal a page from Keith Olberman and have a daily “Worst Trader in the World.” Problematically, he might be asked to leave RM pretty quickly, as some of their “traders” would be regularly featured.

  10. David Silb says:

You forgot the part where he yells

    “Sell!!!” “Sell!”

  11. KirkH says:

Live, web based, big bucks? Gotta be porn.

Either that or you’re going to do video-conference consulting attached to an ebay-esque pricing system. You’ve gotta wear that sweater again on Kudlow. See if he notices.

  12. B says:

Porn, Kudlow and Greenspan sounds rather repulsive to me.

  13. Bob A says:

give me something akin to Real Money without Cramer and you’ll have my subscription

  14. Tom DC/VA says:

    I know! I know!

He’s figured out step #2 in the Underpants Gnomes business strategy!

The code name is Origami. The eagle flies at midnight. And fruit flies like a banana.

  16. Michael says:

Barry hires a group of monkeys (actual, not the singing kind). They throw darts at the stock pages while Barry shows home movies from SF.

A recent trip to San Francisco…this teaser…I would suspect it has something to do with

(Given that its deregistered, don’t go looking for SEC filings…but try
    http://biz.yahoo.com/iw/050526/087600.html)

Disclosure: I’m long and strong, as they say over at Yahoo, and, quite possibly wrong. Again.

  18. TOMBOT says:

    You’re starting a band.

    I smell network television…

Lifestyles of the angry and bearish?

    Desperate hedge funds?

    Squeeze factor?

    The biggest loser?

By any chance would Mark Burnett, Donald Trump, or Gilbert Godfrey be involved?

    Bring out the gimp!

  22. areyburn says:

One comment: Don’t make it too big bucks. There are a few people that like to read you who are not hedge fund managers. I’m thinking Real Money versus their hedge fund site.

  23. ray says:

are these guys for real Barry?? my gosh…some of these ideas are childish!!!
My guess is web based realtime market analysis/stock picks for a monthly fee by the one and only Barry Ritholz….taking his expert analysis away from the big mouths over on RM.
    Ray

  24. ray says:

areyburn-Barry does manage a hedge fund these days.
