Look, Democrats lost out under Clinton when they got off track and went for gays in the military. Bush got off track with Iraq and Sheviago(?). They didn't win on those issues. Obama didn't win running on bailing out Detroit.

How does a worker feel at the Honda plant in Illinois or Ohio when they see the US Government picking winners in the auto industry.

Here in Atlanta, GM closed their plant. Ford closed their plant (across the street from the original Chik-fil-a). Now, in La Grange, there are more workers at the new KIA plant than worked at the Ford plant. The Governor's official vehicle is a FREE KIA. So why should we single out Detroit to compete against KIA? or Mercedes, or Toyota?

Where does it end? Textiles? Where is their aid? Tires?

The financial system needed an input of capital, not a bailout. The finance system is key to the world.

An auto industry with over-capacity is not. They have the capacity to make 17 million cars while selling 12 million, and I don't think the rest of the auto industry or the rest of the country should bail them out.

Cerebus, Dan Quayle, John Snow, Bob Nardelli. Now there are some real democrats that need bailed out.

The IT industry has less workers today than the turn of the century and when all those jobs went to India no one complained.

If democrats go down this road they will be the big losers becuase this is not the issue that won them the election.

Any bailout money is lost money. So the issue would be would this lost money boost American confidence. Don't know.

The market was kind of stable even after Lehman. It wasn't great but it didn't really start going down UNTIL the Fed and Treasury said oh it's really bad we need a program immediately. That's what I think shook the system. The panic and fighting of the gov't people.

I don’t understand this sudden skepticism about bailing out the carmakers. In previous weeks it appeared to be the consensus that they would be helped, that they were too big to fail, and too many jobs and families depended on the industry. Obama favors something; I thought the other Dems favored government help.

So how can it be in doubt when everybody knows it is unthinkable to allow them to fail, especially now when we are still in the early stages of a serious recession? Are they masochists trying to turn a painful recession into an excruciating depression?!

I think its all political posturing and a bailout bill will be passed by next Monday, possibly providing the catalyst for a 5 to 10% rally in equities.
