Just left the polling booth. Check out one of the Propositions currently being voted upon for the bailout:

Proposition 77

"The federal government should not increase income taxes for the purpose of refusing not to let financial institutions not go into bankruptcy?"

A. I do not deny.

B. I refust to not disagree with A.

Think of all the millions that were donated to the candidates in volunteered man/woman hours. I think out the gate that McCain was considered the long shot due to his party affiliation and that's why he didn't even beat Hillary. If Obama had chosen her as his running mate, McCain would have gotten a fraction of what he did.

two other significant reasons. it is easier to hold your nose and vote for a candidate than it is to open your check book. do not forget that mccain will be the last presidential candidate to elect public financing

No, I think he trailed for donations because people are finally waking up. The election results will tell the story. If Obama wins by a landslide, then this will be further evidence of the current Republican Party being more of a character defect than a competitive and virtuous approach to the people of the world. I suspect they will not remake themselves for a few years. The old and shriveled ones will just get more reactionary in an attempt to force their fundamentalist ideas down everyone else's throat. Once they die off from old age, then there might be some change. There will always be a right wing menace, only, for the moment, they are in disrepute in this county. In places like Iran, they are still popular. It's clever how so many right wingers want this country to be more like Iran in many ways, but claim to hate the way Iran is run. Classic distraction.
