I agree with condor. The premise is one of the dumbest I've seen in quite a while, and I'm surprised McHugh gives it credibility. By the time of the excesses that caused this environment, children of the boomers were well ensconced in society and played a role in helping the mess along. Plus, this kind of backward-looking smear is easy. Where was the writer when things were spinning out of control in real time?

The 'Shallowest' label is doubtless meant to inflame and get attention. However, the same label could be cast on our grandparents' generation for creating the bubbles that led to the Great Depression, then, right? They did the same things the boomers have done, the same behavior. Because that's what people do when the social mood is high and you're living during the greatest bull run that's ever existed up to that time.

This generational carping is really irritating. So while my parents generation fought WWII and were the 'Greatest', they also created Vietnam and sent their kids to fight there--and die, a lot. Every generation does great things and horrible things, and they never do it alone. They get help from members of previous and subsequent generations in their efforts.

That Washington/Jefferson generation--just awful, huh? Slavers, the lot of them. No votes for women, either. And that crappy Lincoln generation with their decision to go to war instead of just letting the Confederacy go on its way. What a waste of lives that was. And how about those clowns who created the panic of 1907? Lame-o.

And, of course, today we are blessed with the generation that put Obama in the White House. Don't get your hopes up there. Morons who lack critical thinking and are bigger suckers for marketing than any previous generation. Women's equality was set back decades when they embraced the misogyny plank of the Obama campaign. And they never took to the streets to even try to end Iraq, either, but I suppose without a draft that would force them to get involved in the fighting, that's expected. Shallow bastards.

That being said, this 50-something investor does indeed hope the Oct (now Nov) lows hold.

That Seeking Alpha article about the shallow Baby Boomer generation is, well...shallow. You could level almost any charge for OR against "Boomers," and merely by the fact that they are the largest demographic group ever to arise on the planet, your case could be proved. So what?

Scapegoating is easy, but...shallow.
