Asian currencies continue to sell off vs the $ on the heels of the news yesterday that South Korea said they will look into hot money inflows stemming from the $ carry trade and the Bank of Indonesia said they are looking into the foreign buying of bills. This follows the news a few weeks ago that Taiwan was limiting foreign deposit holdings and Brazil was taxing foreign inflow transactions. Nice! Unexpected and funny. Did anyone else notice that W looked like a chastened teenager when he addressed the media today? What’s that old Firesign Theatre bit? Something along the lines of “Everything you know is Wrong.” W had the look of a man who just figured that out after being verbally abused by the other G20 honchos. If W wasn’t so totally culpable for so many truly bad things I’d almost feel for the guy…..
