I was deeply saddened to read early this morning that Doris Dungey, better known as Tanta of Calculated Risk, has passed. She had been ill for some time, but one always holds onto hope that a condition might improve.
The news of her passing already generated over 1000 comments here.

Asian currencies continue to sell off vs the $ on the heels of the news yesterday that South Korea said they will look into hot money inflows stemming from the $ carry trade and the Bank of Indonesia said they are looking into the foreign buying of bills. This follows the news a few weeks ago that Taiwan was limiting foreign deposit holdings and Brazil was taxing foreign inflow transactions. even those of us that only new her through CR, were deeply saddened. she was very special and sincerely appreciated by far more than she knew… i’m sure most of us have left a comment on the CR blog… the number was nearing 1000 at last look.
