For those of you who have not sent any holiday cheer my way yet, there’s still time to pick up a little something for the holidays. I suggest this little bauble:

    $250k each?

    Dude, take it off your wish list — I’ll pick up a pair for the both of us.

  2. Pat G. Says:

    As we near Xmas and head into the New Year, I’d like to wish you and all the regulars here a very Merry Christmas and the best of New Year’s. I’d also like to thank you for providing this blog where we can all share opinions, ideas and thoughts. And you personally for your insights. Peace and prosperity. That’s about all the “holiday cheer” I can afford after the beating I’ve taken this year.

  3. gloppie Says:

    Ugly as sin, expensive as hell, and by any means completely impractical.
    Yet another sign of the times (pun intended).

  4. Lars39 Says:

    Designed by Rube Goldberg?

  5. Bruce in Tn Says:

    I’ve got a used pet rock I will sell you for half of this bauble…housebroken, and unlike a teenager, it doesn’t get surly…

  6. Pool Shark Says:

    Be honest Barry…

    Was the “Tourbillion” typo on purpose?

    ~~~
    BR: That’s a cut and paste from somewhere — pretty Freudian, tho . . .
  7. JustinTheSkeptic Says:
    I want to second Pat G’s remarks…Merry Christmas, and Happy Chanukah. No watch this year from me Barry; I’m not into trinkets. lol
  8. danm Says:
    Only the rich can get away wearing such an ugly bauble.
  9. danm Says:
    And what does it do exactly? It looks like a miniature printing press. Does it tell time or keep track of the billions printed by the Fed?
  10. Transor Z Says:
    Just what any Master of the Universe needs this Christmas!
    Complete Monty Python collection only $57 on Amazon…
    I agree BR, that thing is radical. practical? well, subjective evaluations are just that.
    the Watch is good example of what Engineers can do, when there’s a Market at play..
    luckily, for us, all the ‘Engineers’ are going to be on a Full-Employment gig, In W.D.C..
    somehow, I think the Market, for this Watch, thereby, will expand..
    OT:
    on Kudlow, this evening, he had Heather Boushey, a “Senior Economist” from the “Center for American Progress”, on to discuss 44’s ‘Stimulus’ plans.
    If you want to see a disinfo agent/agitprop cut-out at work, see her performance..
    for my own sense, I’ve referred to LK, previously, as CrudBlow–more out of annoyance with his incessant cheerleading of a mythical ‘Goldilocks’, and a, well-greased, penchant for parroting WH talking points..that said, in these days, he’ll be a useful ‘tuning fork’, against which to judge the pitch of the incoming (hard)corps of command & control freaks..
  13. DL Says:
    You want the base model, or one slathered in platinum and diamonds…?
  14. DL Says:
    Mark E Hoffer @ 8:11
    “…I’ve referred to [Kudlow], …out of annoyance with his … penchant for parroting WH talking points…”
    Not so much any more. Bush has moved to the Socialist wing of the Republican party… Kudlow doesn’t want to go there.
    A fusee watch? Wow, 1700s technology for the 21st century. Big and ugly enough to get some billionaire to buy it, just to prove his bad taste.
  16. jonhendry Says:
    The only reason to get that would be to put a little Bernie Madoff/Dick Fuld/Alan Greenspan/ex-spouse figurine on it, as if stretched on the rack.
    OT: back in 1986, Stephen Fry did a spoof investigative reporting series for BBC 4 radio, called “Delve”. Episode 4 of Series 3, “City Limits”, is an entertaining look at a case of financial fraud in the City of London. I found it quite funny, and quite timely despite being 22 years old. There’s even a bank bailout. It’s available on a torrent near you.
    This is one of the very few times in my life that I have hoped someone goes B/K.
  19. spudvol Says:
    Barry,
    Your Amazon Wishlist, which clocks in at 46 pages, might just be longer than your book.
    ~~~

    BR: Yah, I need to trim that down. I use the list to just book mark junk for later review.

    The book clocked in at 430 pages — of which 100 pages were endnotes, further sources, etc. I decided to put a lot of that online, and cut it down to 310, which made the publishers happy.

    UPDATE: Cut the wishlist down to 27 pages

    What a coincidence – the last time I was in New York City I met a Cabestan Wench in Times Square.

    No, I don’t own and am not buying one.

    But, I am thinking of acquiring a USB rocket launcher:
