Mrs. Big Picture said “I want another puppy.” And, so it was . . .

What a face:
Paparazzi! Get that camera away from me!
Why the furrowed brow? What could YOU be worried about?

This site has just gone to the dogs.

At last, a picture on this web site that doesn’t make me want to slap an economist!
February 16th, 2009 at 8:34 pm
Dogs are great, and always happy to see you (unlike many humans).
February 16th, 2009 at 8:35 pm
Cute (times 5).
February 16th, 2009 at 8:40 pm
If mama’s not happy, nobody’s happy. There’s nothin’ like unconditional love!
February 16th, 2009 at 8:44 pm
gorgeous! I got two as well. If only our economic leaders can provide the unconditional love and do the right thing, we might have a chance to get through this mess. Let the damn debts default, restructure the bad models, let the common/bondholders take haircuts, and stop the insanity!
February 16th, 2009 at 8:47 pm
PS: The bigger dog looks like BUCK from Married With Children!
February 16th, 2009 at 8:53 pm
Gotta love the small furry family members. They make a house a home. Congrats to you and Mrs BP.

My Miss’ told me i want a dog. I said OK, never had one before. Shortly thereafter she brings home a cute fluffy 8 week young blue merle Australian Shepherd. Very sweet, but a dangerous mouth, he thought we were sheep. He stubbornly would nip at our ankles. It took much struggle and many holes in my socks but he’s a well behaved 1 yo now. Fortunately, your breed isn’t a mouthful. Enjoy getting him crate trained and cleaning up his pee until he can hold it longer.

I think you should refer Mrs. Big Picture to http://www.buppythepuppy.com to show her what she’s in for. I have two grown retrievers who looked a lot like that puppy and grew up into b-i-i-i-i-i-g dogs. Buppy has eated every Bluetooth headset I’ve ever bought. I finally got Bluetooth in the car.
February 16th, 2009 at 9:19 pm
They are adorable! What are their names?
February 16th, 2009 at 9:26 pm
Goldens are the best!!! Yay!!
Please please think about adopting a shelter dog if you’re thinking of gett ing one — there are so many needing a home right now…
February 16th, 2009 at 9:27 pm
My bad. Just saw their names. Was too busy admiring the pictures to read the caption!
February 16th, 2009 at 9:28 pm
Oh, and my golden chewed up my hubby’s Valentine’s Day presents as revenge for my being gone this weekend. Sigh… keep valuables well out of puppy reach…
February 16th, 2009 at 9:32 pm
thanks for sharing dude…
February 16th, 2009 at 9:46 pm
Don’t be fooled by that depressed, bearish look. My friend has two of these beasts and they both looked the same as pups. Three years later, they remind me of hyperactive water buffalos. I hope you live in a farmhouse with no valuables, a concrete floor, 80 acres, and understanding neighbors.

Barry,
I’m no offense intended, but you know how they say dogs look like their owner? Look in the mirror, and then check the 2nd pic. Something about the eyes…
February 16th, 2009 at 10:00 pm
Great pictures, Barry! My great little mystery mutt from the shelter in Spanish Harlem has kept me relatively sane here at home throughout this mess. She’s my little assistant here in my basement office. The most consistent living being I know, by far.

I left out that he is a LabraDoodle:
Mom was jet black, dad a light colored standard poodle.
February 16th, 2009 at 10:03 pm
Somewhat of a mixup … Much like the rest of us. Cool.
February 16th, 2009 at 10:07 pm
Have run into many LabraDoodles here in SW Mpls. Every one of them seemed to be very good natured, from what I can tell. Great looking dogs and no shedding either, I believe.

To All.
Dogs take as much as effort as kids, but give off much more love. I wholeheartedly endorse more dogs in the homestead.
February 16th, 2009 at 10:26 pm
I’m, as well, definitely, of the pro-Dog contingent.
I know mine, as Jeff sketches about his, has been stalwart compadre, and a faithful partner in many ventures, and travails.
BR,
those pics show, at least, 3 more instances of your good judgement~
February 16th, 2009 at 10:34 pm
TWO dogs now? That’s sounding a bit like starter-children to me…
Really, this post is a happy distraction whilst we prepare for all the fun tomorrow…
February 16th, 2009 at 11:31 pm
Be careful! I’m sure Jax & Max would rate as anchor talent at CNBC…….

If they could cross breed Bernake with Greenspan what do you think it would be called? A Bernakespan or a Greenake? How about Volker with Bernake or Greenspan? Volkakespan?
Mazeltov!

Hey, at least She (“who must be obeyed”:Rumpole of the Bailey/Leo Mc Kern) did not ask for a (or another) horse like my ex-girlfirends did.
Damn, they would rather be riding the horse than…(opps, forgot the content issue here) Never Mind!
Best Chocolate Lab names were of a father/son package: Choco for the father and Chip for his son.
They were true ‘tweakers’ (no, not meth addicts) when it came to chasing tennis balls, they never would quit!

congrats!

Awwwwwwwww!
February 17th, 2009 at 12:42 am
First time I’ve seen Mrs. BP too. Lucky guy. There is love in that person’s eyes
February 17th, 2009 at 1:12 am
Mrs. Big Picture might have a bit of a thing about upraised eyebrows…
February 17th, 2009 at 1:40 am
Two observations:
1. The dog’s expression is definitely a signal of a bad market this week. He’s saying, “Why must the canine be subservient to the ursine? All stocks are dogs this coming week, it is not just I who am a dog.” Mark that dog’s expression!
2. Mrs. B. P. has a sad puppy face as well. I hope you’re not transmitting your emotions about the bad market week that you foresee ahead to all in your household! Buy the SKF or SRS this week and let your tounge hang out!
February 17th, 2009 at 5:38 am
Adorable, simply adorable!
February 17th, 2009 at 5:52 am
If Jax turns out like the other doodles he will be the smartest happiest dog you have ever met.
February 17th, 2009 at 6:01 am
woof.
February 17th, 2009 at 6:46 am
Barry, i knew there was something i liked about you….(not just your honest, smart, no bullshit approach to the economy/markets).
We have a goldendoodle, that is also the same coloring as your labradoodle. Of course, our house would not be the same was it not for Murray, our 10 year old golden retriever. They are the best dogs! Congrats. Get ready for a lot of hair in the house though. (We just started shaving our golden and it helps a lot).
My offer still stands if you are still looking for that huge Ray Charles boxset….I have a bunch in stock.
Regards,
Josh from HIPster Music

Labradoodles are great dogs, Barry, and that looks like a cute ‘un. Gonna be big, though. Congrats and best of luck with him!
February 17th, 2009 at 7:46 am
We have an 18 week old Doberman puppy. Have the guns and Doby now. Just awaiting the collapse they keep prolonging.
February 17th, 2009 at 9:55 am
If you want friends in this business….
ya can’t be all if your dog still likes you!
February 17th, 2009 at 10:10 am
Finally some good news!
We have two dogs. Our family joke is that I look forward to the kids leaving for college soon so that we can get a few more dogs.
February 17th, 2009 at 10:26 am
Cute–but a designer mutt? Come on Barry– LOL I have a friend with a golden-doodle that lives out in the country. He has a huge pond with resident geese [obviously becoming a problem in many ways...]—the dog hates the water and is afraid of the geese!!
So i brought my 3 year field Golden Retriever– literally the best damn retriever in Virginia–cleared the geese [without a single bark] by swimming after them tirelessly–until they split [for good].. Turns out he’s in demand for the same from my tony neighbors out in Hunt Country–hey, in this market, kibble cost is kibble cost!
congrats

How exciting was Jax a Valentines gift?
Trouble??? My guess would be that the dogs and Mrs. BP aren’t the trouble!
Congratulations to the both of you…I’m always excited to see happy, loved and well taken care of dogs!

I’m a cat person…….
