I’m a media “professional” and even I don’t care about newspapers. It has been a race to the bottom for most and I don’t subscribe to the doomsayers’ cry about the coming illiteracy; the past has been idealized, as usual. We have more access to more “news” than ever before. Most of it is irrelevant, but that has always been the case.

I was in the South Fork National Recreational Area this weekend, and stopped at one of the convenience stores in the area to get some coffee…I saw a copy of the Nashville Tennessean on the counter and was shocked…I remember this paper from 4-5 years ago, and it used to be very large, both in number of pages and the size of the pages themselves…well, the thing is a shell of what it used to be…this Saturday issue was no bigger than the Parade Magazine that used to come with the Sunday paper! No wonder people don’t continue subscriptions….

…and I note that the Tennessean is down 10-20% by your graph…
