Please use the comments to demonstrate your own ignorance, unfamiliarity with empirical data and lack of respect for scientific knowledge. Be sure to create straw men and argue against things I have neither said nor implied. If you could repeat previously discredited memes or steer the conversation into irrelevant, off topic discussions, it would be appreciated. Lastly, kindly forgo all civility in your discourse . . . you are, after all, anonymous.

I don’t see in the cycle where this generation has taken us back to the beginning. Something is missing from the cycle.

Lost in most discussions of terran evolton are the assorted asteroid hits that pretty much wiped the slate clean 3 (?) times. So there’s actually not a good linear progression from the original set of tiny single-cell ocean beasties to post-asteroid plants and animal life to dinosaurs to post-asteroid mammals to primates.

Had not those asteroids re-set stuff practically to zero (never quite to zero) multiple times, who knows what would have evolved from the original set of micro-organisms.

Pretty picture, but I have a hard time reconciling it with http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Irreducible_complexity; Sorta like a pretty picture of how the financial system ought to work in theory, but then in practice, whoa, we discover systemic risk and black swans… so we reach the conclusion we need to design a better system.
