Asian currencies continue to sell off vs the $ on the heels of the news yesterday that South Korea said they will look into hot money inflows stemming from the $ carry trade and the Bank of Indonesia said they are looking into the foreign buying of bills. This follows the news a few weeks ago that Taiwan was limiting foreign deposit holdings and Brazil was taxing foreign inflow transactions. I saw her when it aired. I was not comforted by her performance. It was all Jon could do not to declare that she was in over her head. He bent over backward to help her acquit herself, and she still couldn’t do it. Don’t worry, a smart new regulation will fix it for ordinary folks. Say hello to the new technocrat, same as the old technocrat.
