Asian currencies continue to sell off vs the $ on the heels of the news yesterday that South Korea said they will look into hot money inflows stemming from the $ carry trade and the Bank of Indonesia said they are looking into the foreign buying of bills. This follows the news a few weeks ago that Taiwan was limiting foreign deposit holdings and Brazil was taxing foreign inflow transactions. I’ve been reading The Creature From Jekyll Island , a second look at the Federal Reserve, by G Edward Griffin.
I nearly didn’t start because its hard going and I’m not a big conspiracy theory freak but many aspects of the book resonate with the current crises. If there is even a fairly small amount of truth in it, easy money and greed (not to mention power, corruption and the ability to shake the world) have been lurking on Wall Street for a long time.
