I agree with you on Congress. What I find somewhat promising is that the newbies are trying to do the right thing with this. I hope you are wrong but given the dismal performance on TARP oversight nothing would surprise me. Maybe BR will provide an update on this bill as time passes. It is a litmus test in my mind.

Barry,
I, for one, have full faith in the Congress. They predictably vote with money, know better than anyone else when, how and in what position call up on the Fuck-up Fairy anytime a solution is in search of a problem.

That is what I love about them; they're predictably bad.

@Moss:
They won't vote against; they'll just make sure it get kills in Kommittee. Exactly what they're trying to do with Ron Paul's bill to audit the Fed.

How can I feel so sure? They're predictable! Mark Twain told us all we need to know a long time ago:

“Suppose you were an idiot. And suppose you were a member of Congress. But then I repeat myself.”

“It could probably be shown by facts and figures that there is no distinctly native American criminal class except Congress.”

“Fleas can be taught nearly anything that a Congressman can.”

“To my mind Judas Iscariot was nothing but a low, mean, premature Congressman.”

“All Congresses and Parliaments have a kindly feeling for idiots, and a compassion for them, on account of personal experience and heredity.”

"No citizen's assets are safe while Congress is in session."

Brad Sherman, especially, but also Alan Grayson and Marcy Kaptur, have been damn near heroic in their fight on behalf of the taxpayer. Those of us still seething about the ongoing bailouts have noticed their efforts. Jim Bunning has also been opposed to the bailouts. It's worth noting that Grayson beat his incumbent opponent largely because he opposed the bailouts and the incumbent supported them. I only wish this would turn into a larger trend.

Get it up for a vote ASAP. Any politician who votes against it will revel their true alliances.
