Those who aren't working today may elect to spend the day in some kind of cave, as North Korea is rumored to prepare a strike against the U.S. today:

I bought a house on Monday, moved on Tuesday. Still unpacking, still sore. I will not be at "work" this weekend, but will not exactly be seated very much. The toddler loves it, able to do laps around the center staircase, so that keeps you on your feet too.

I was at the Mall for y2k 4th of July. It was stinking hot. 100+ By 10pm it had cooled to around 96 degrees. odd benefit is that I didn't have to find a bathroom but once.

Stocks..... Karen, I have been reading Hussman weekly (if not timely) based on a few recommendations from you. He seems to be looking at late this year for the second//another wave of mortgage problems. Barry is 80% in equities. I am still on the sidelines with a small short position. Missing trading opportunities left and right. Oh well.

Costco sells fireworks in PA. I was debating introducing myself to the neighbors with a loud, showy spectacle. Been too busy so far. Reading the comments, I do need to stock up on some proper beverages. Closing costs sure do add up. I'll see if PBR is on sale. (:

So... after the right wingers - who didn't understand a 363 Bankruptcy filing - screamed that people "would buy anymore debt" We see investors are buying mountains of it:

http://www.reuters.com/article/etfNews/idUSN3044902920090630

And the mortgage and refi markets are going strong after the right wingers claim "mortgage modifications will kill the mortgage market..."

http://www.reuters.com/article/marketsNews/idUSN3044746220090630

And look at all those US gov't debt auctions. Success.

http://www.ustreas.gov/offices/domestic-finance/debt-management/auctions/

The next time they complain about something, ask them why their "guess" that the US debt markets would be ruined, wasn't.

LOL at the Right-Wing media pundits.

Some reasonable person must have taken Barry under their wing at some early stage. I believe studies have shown that good early employment and mentors are an important factor in subsiquent success. I wonder which great mentors Barry had.

Or you can get stuck on multiple IT projects that require outage windows of longer than 2 days to implement. No Holidays this year.

I can't wait till labor day is done.

And I really like doing the pyrotechnics with the kids. Nothing better in the world than lighting up a few black cats or Thunder bombs.

Yup, working this weekend at my night job: janitor at the local mall. Surprisingly, half of the janitors there are older, financially displaced women like me. Kinda cool, actually.

Wrenches rock. lol!

@ahab: Was once on the Mall for fireworks on the Fourth. Sitting right under them. Spectacular. Get near the Basin, between the Jefferson and Washington as I recall.

Have no idea what the crowds and traffic are like now. I assume you'll be taking the Metro.

Treat yourself to a lil peep watchin. Should be hot. Hope for an afternoon thunderstorm that clears out by 6 pm.

Probably going to seek out some 'works in this area. Love 'works, hate crowds, so it becomes a challenge. Have some really nice pyros of my own, but right now no place to safely blast. And it's way too dry here to take a chance. New Years works better here. And since I moved, I lost my July 5th half price source. Darn.

Keep getting newsletter from Harry Gilliam, and keep getting tempted to brew my own, but mixing black with Alfred e is probably a really, really bad idea. May at some point seek out one of the pyro clubs. There is one company here that makes shooting targets that explode when hit with a bullet. Sounds a little bizarre to me. But then who am I to call something bizarre.

Kind of interesting that in this day and age, people are still shipping pyro ingredients around the country. The feds are slowly but surely trying to squeeze them out, but all those NRA kooks want to be able to load their own for the revolution. Had a friend that loaded his own. He kept changing his loading location. He once said that it doesn't matter how careful you are, sooner or later enough powder will accumulate and you'll blow yourself up. Guess that's why they make fireworks in explosion limiting bunkers.
