Wow, this is outstanding:

First Amendment Award 2009 Bailout Nation: Best Book
Many authors, journalists, and publicists have asserted causes for the financial crisis and stock market crash of 2008. However, none have done as comprehensive a job as Barry Ritholtz in his Mount Everest view of how it all went down: Bailout Nation.

Bailout Nation avoids all the disingenuous blame-shifting onto specific political parties or individuals. Instead, the surprisingly easy-to-read overview has the balls to publish the entire laundry list of culprits and variables. If you are interested in Truth rather than fancy academic erudition or rhetorical smoke and mirrors, Bailout Nation will fill your brain with the equivalent of a nutritious gourmet meal.

I am honored and humbled . . .

I had no idea you wrote BN with a goose quill and an inkwell!

    Congrats

  2. JustinTheSkeptic Says:

Nothing like being recognized for truth, huh BR…congrats.

  3. Space_Cowboy_NW Says:

    Mucho Congrats Senor Barry…..

I would not be surprised to (eventually) see your book evolved into a screenplay/movie.
How much that process deviates from the intelligence & integrity of your book (and how you crafted it) remains to playout!

You passed through Vancouver (BC) a while back, when are you going to be in the (Pacific) NW again ?
Would love to see you at Elliot Bay (SEA) or Powell’s (PDX) and to have you sign my book.

“If everyone is thinking alike, then somebody isn’t thinking.” – George S. Patton

    All The Best…..

You perform a great service for all us plebes who haven’t got the slightest clue what’s going on in your world.

    Congratulations Barry.

  9. I-Man Says:

Guess I should finally buy a copy and read it… :)

Make a deal with ya BR, you come out to Powell’s Books in PDX like the Space Cowboy NW mentioned above, and I’ll buy two copies.

  10. Moss Says:

It is good to see that truth and facts still hold sway for some.
BR.. you are a real American!

  11. Pat G. Says:

Congratulations on a job well done!! BTW, how many copies have sold so far?

  12. Mannwich Says:

Congrats Barry. I was asked to attend my wife’s 93 year-old men’s “Cracker Barrel” group last week while on vacation to discuss the economy and was able to hold my own in the discussion quite nicely. Part of that is due to what I’ve learned on your site and from your book. Am also recommending your book to his brother, a retired econ professor who was at the meeting. Over the past 8-9 months, we’ve been trading thoughts about the true causes of this debacle and I told him that he should read your book.

  13. Mark Wolfinger Says:

    Mazel Tov!

  14. Mannwich Says:

    That’s my wife’s “93 year-old grandfather”. My wife isn’t 93 years old!

  15. wunsacon Says:

Congratulations, Barry. Pardon my French but: You’re freaking great!

Space_cowboy, if you’re going to quote Patton, how ’bout going with:
“Ritholtz, you magnificent bastard! I *read your book*!” ;-)

  16. deadonarrival Says:

    @wunsacon

    More Patton:

“We’re going to go through BR’s book. like crap through a goose”!

  17. How the Common Man Sees It Says:

Way to go guy. It is one thing to write a book. It is quite another to get the ribbons and trophies for it. It looks like you’ve done some excellent work there young man ;)

  18. JohnnyVee Says:

Great job- I think you hit this one out of the park.

  19. Cezmi Says:

    congrats!
    best from Zurich.

  20. GB Says:

Way to go BR. You deserve the credit.

  21. Sam Blair Says:

I posted this before, but not sure you got it.

I bought your book on audio, and listen to it during work-outs at the gym. On days when I don’t feel like hauling my fatt butt to the gym, I remember how I’m looking forward to the next chapter, so off I go. I’m at the last chapter, and don’t want it to end. You have to write another book. This one is like a backwards GPS, showing where we’ve been, and how we got here. The next one should look forward, opining about the direction we have to go FROM here.

I also heard you speak at the Agora/Vancouver conference. Anymore, I feel like Diagones, stumbling around looking for an honest man. When I heard your talk, I knew there were still a few out there. Your message is very inspirational, if for no other reason to confirm that it’s not me who is crazy, and that the new norm is a form of systemic insanity.

    Congrats, and keep talking.

  22. deanscamaro Says:

I found your excellent blog quite awhile back and have been a constant reader/commentor since. I would expect nothing less than the accolades noted above for Bailout nation. Congratulations! Keep up the constant vigil.

  23. deanscamaro Says:

Okay, Barry, I read it. After reading the above, I tried to go to the next post and my computer locked up, swear to God. Did you do something with this post to keep people here?

  24. chrispycrunch Says:

    Congratulations on the recognition, Barry!

  25. dmlopr Says:

I wonder how many people at McG Hill just said, “that sonofabitch”! What a bunch of tools.
Congrats Barry, it’s a great book.

  26. bart Says:

Huge congrats – well deserved too.

  27. MorticiaA Says:

Congratulations, Barry! I bought your book but can’t pry it from my husband now. Will read it as soon as I figure out diversionary tactic….

  28. tenaciousd Says:

Congrats! Now when am I going to get a signed plate to stick in the front of my book? It just won’t be complete without it.

  29. FrancoisT Says:

    Well Barry,

As they say in the estadios south of our borders during the sports week end…GOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOL!

    Congrats Sir!
