Note...

I'm more inclined to think around 931 on the S&P as a temporary correction...

Thus Niagra (not Angel) Falls... Angel will come later.

@ben22

In simple terms, I think we've reached what I call a "Louise Yamada" moment...

That means, we could dick around between 1016 and 1054... (confounding the Kass call, yet frustrating the bulls, [AFTER tomorrow, I suppose])... Failure to push above 1054 might precipitate a mini-Niagra going into September...

I'm MOST interested in the dollar reaction to all of this...

@DOA,

re that 200 mo moving article, I haven't read that yet but I'm almost certain that is something that suttmeyer (sp?) follows very closely, he used it to make a technical call for an extended bear market last year.

That statement alone should cause a run on the banks. what a disgrace the system is. People have their deposits at these "insititutions" and have the right to know this information, especially since they also bailed out said institutions.

i am also wondering on whether the court order for the fed to disclose the banks tethered to its lending facilities is a black swan event once the information is out there-

i can only assume that all the banks that were bailed out are insolvent since they collectively sent a delcaration to the court as the (Clearing House Association)- stating that by releasing the information " [it] could result in the immediate demise of an institution" . . . and . . ."When an institution's customers flee and its credit dries up the institution may suffer severe capital and liquidity strains leaving it in a weakened competitive position."

sounds pretty damning

but manhattanguy, if qcom is any example, it blew off Jan 3 of 2000, opening at an all time high and closing down big, a full 3 months prior to the $compq capitulation...

A little sanity check for those of a deflationary disposition who may be beginning to lose their marbles today:
http://globaleconomicanalysis.blogspot.com/2009/08/creative-destruction.html

Reading Mish doesn't always make LB wealthier but it does make one feel less of a complete lunatic, social outcast, naysayer, doubting Thomas, doom merchant, Chicken Little, pessimist and/or misanthrope... :-)

LB has decided to play oil as the representative of the over-valued assets generated by the ONE TRADE rally, with some smaller positions in other instruments. No doubting the possibility of another mini super-spike, brought to us by our special friends at 85 Broad perhaps, but if it occurs, it will surely curtail further the insipid spending of Mr and Mrs J6P and hasten the end of this phase of the "recoveryless recovery" (hat tip: Karen). Once oil breaks down there will be a variety of other opportunities created by the resulting $ rally.

the only explanation is that folks are not too bright and will follow what the MSM is saying- I remember Tom Brokaw's opening line one night during the dot com bonanza-

"How high can it go?"

the NAZ was around 5000 at the time- if someone did not sell right then, right there- then they were as dumb as a box of rocks
