Trader: The Missing Paul Tudor Jones “Rogue” Video
“Trader” (PTJ) video, long out of print and practically impossible to find, is (finally) showing up on line. It includes his now infamous 1987 crash forecast.
After he made his fortune, Jones reputedly bought up all of the copies of Trader. One rumor had it he was embarrassing at the naked footage of his trading; others suggested his “secrets might be discerned.
Regardless, it has been pretty impossible to find . . . Until now.
Here is the copy from the cover of the VHS tape:
“Is financial trading an art, science, profession or out-and-out gamble? If you’re interested in money and you want to know what it’s really like on Wall Street, this is the video you, your family, your colleagues and your friends should own. Filmed before Wall Street’s October 1987 crash, TRADER is a riviting one hour documentary of a fascinating man, Paul Tudor Jones II. It delivers a rarely seen view of futures trading and explains the workings of this frantic, highly charged marketplace. It gives viewers an inside look at his estate in Virginia, skiing in Gstaad, his New York apartment. It also examines Jones’ prediction that America is nearing the end of a 200-year bull market. If he’s right – and he almost always is – this country and the world are about to experience economic changes of unprecedented proportions.”

I don’t know if I would “download” anything from these sites, but viewing is fine. Apparently, according to the New Yorker article about Armstrong, PTJ exerted considerable effort to eradicate all copies of this video from the net. Tough to crack those shady Chinese video sites, though.
In more recent news, here are some links to PTJ’s firms opinions re: the current market

Also, his recent speech about failure:

Gotta love the giant electronic devices and giant glasses… The video is so 80′s that I half expect New Order’s “True Faith” to start playing and for Patrick Bateman to start killing people…

So I followed Singers link to Bloomberg. Whose picture was that with the article? Is it Halloween? Have they photo shopped Abby Cohen and Jones? Too weird.

His trades seem so slow by current standards. No HFT here!

seems there ‘other sources’ http://clusty.com/search?input-form=clusty-simple&v%3Asources=webplus&query=Paul+Tudor+Jones+Documentary+Trader
past that, PTJ II has been/is one of the Great ones..
further, this call: “It also examines Jones’ prediction that America is nearing the end of a 200-year bull market. If he’s right – and he almost always is – this country and the world are about to experience economic changes of unprecedented proportions.”
was/is waay more accurate than many care to admit, let alone contemplate..

@MEH
It appears people are getting it from Z Share. It’s incredible how hard it is to pull something from the new once its out there and protrcting intellectual property is pretty tough nowadays…
Re: his predicition, its incredible that someone could be right in theory but because we are dealing with such long term phenomena and waves, etc. timing this stuff is a bitch…

Singer,
w/this: Re: his predicition, I hear you, though, if we took into account what really happened (BK’d) to Wall St. (for the large part) in Oct. ’87, we might, better, understand Greenspan’s torrents of ‘Easy Money’, and the hyper-consolidation of the American(+G7) Economy(-ies) (M&A boom) that followed –for, but, two phenomena of a longer list..that delineate “this country and the world are about to experience economic changes of unprecedented proportions.”
just to reiterate, PTJ II was more accurate than many care to admit, let alone contemplate..
as an aside, If in 1987, I bought goods or services for $1.00 then in 2009, the same goods or services would cost $1.88.

@ Just a thought
cool. you got a link?
@MEH
Agreed. My favorite concise capsule of the issue is the following:
In 1982, DJIA = 700
In 2007, DJIA = 14,000
Even with that nominal gain, purchasing power of $ and standard of living in my area (LI, NY) was lower.
I always say you could get SP500 @ 3000, and that still wouldn’t mean things are OK.

I think Zero Hedge seeded the torrent as well ( http://www.zerohedge.com/sites/default/files/Trader%20-%20courtesy%20Comfortably%20Smug.avi_.torrent ) It’s an incredible video, I must admit.
