Dumb Discovery of the Day: All Men Watch Porn
Here is yet something else I missed while out to sea last week: All men watch porn, scientists find. Regular readers know I am very pro-Science, but I cannot see how this research adds anything:
“We started our research seeking men in their 20s who had never consumed pornography,” said Professor Simon Louis Lajeunesse. “We couldn’t find any.”
Although hampered in its original aim, the study did examined the habits of those young men who used pornography – which would appear to be all of them.
Around 90 per cent of consumption was on the internet, while 10 per cent of material came from video stores.”
Well, duh.

Does this mean that this afternoon’s linkfest will have a new title, “What are you WATCHING?”

Here we are, BR, and you know what we’re here for.

LOL, the last ‘growth’ industry!

Probably a top candidate for the Ig Nobel Prize.

Maybe it’s an outgrowth of this:

New Study Reveals Most Children Unrepentant Sociopaths
MINNEAPOLIS—A study published Monday in The Journal Of Child Psychology And Psychiatry has concluded that an estimated 98 percent of children under the age of 10 are remorseless sociopaths with little regard for anything other than their own egocentric interests and pleasures.

Well hopefully our tax dollars didn’t fund that study. Check out where some of the stimulus money was spent for another DUH
33. Study on “Hookup” Behavior of Female College Coeds ($219,000)
The National Institute of Health (NIH) is using stimulus funds to pay for a year-long $219,000 study to follow female college students for a year to determine whether young women are more likely to ―hookup — the college equivalent of casual sex — after drinking

@MA: Sounds like a poll about bankers on Wall Street but they are, the last time I checked, ADULTS.

davo… you mean you can ‘study’ that and get PAID to do so????

One favorite is
Peter Barss of McGill University, Canada, for his impactful medical report
“Injuries Due to Falling Coconuts”.
December 10th, 2009 at 2:37 pm
Sticking to the theme set by BR, the ultimate classic, and I have to admit, I have read this paper many times
“Magnetic Resonance Imaging of Male and Female Genitals During Coitus and Female Sexual Arousal.”
by Willibrord Weijmar Schultz, Pek van Andel, and Eduard Mooyaart
at University of Groningen, the Netherlands
Can’t help to wonder if this study was supported by the Dutch porn institute. Just the thought of having sex in an MRI machine gets me excited. Mmmmm, those sounds coming from the machine.
What’s the use of a new medical instrument if you can’t use it for sex.

Recent studies are showing that porn use has similar effects and withdrawal symptoms to hard drugs.
Sadly, many use porn as an escape from stressful and painful reality. When this happens over time it becomes a habit, which then becomes an addiction.
The fact that it is free, easy to access, and private is the reason why so many young men are falling victim to it. If left unchecked it WILL RUIN their LIVES.
If this is you…there is help out there.

The “Big Picture”
Hmmfff!
There are no pictures. And ther no Big ones to be seen.
What a lousy porn site. :)

I googled for “pron” and wound up here. Should have went to dailymail.uk, where there is plenty of girl-on-golfer action.

Not mentioned in this bit of scholarship: what do sex, drugs and trading stocks have in common?
Apparently, a bit too much.
December 10th, 2009 at 3:35 pm
This reminds me of an old Larry Miller stand-up bit where he talks about how men think about women and how women have NO IDEA…

P.S. On the topic of today’s price action:
“It’s a beautiful day in this fractal-sell-signal neighborhood,
a beautiful day for a neighbor…”

yeah go ahead. create news to bail tiger out! there was a “test” suggested in ENGLAND while back which suggested chemical castration for sex offenders who were aroused (and this bit required measurement) when shown porn. Time to arousal….standard deviation and all.
Then again, the english have always been scatalogical. they had a scandal where they removed brains of smart and retarded people at autopsy for further study w/o consent. no wonder the bodies were lighter!

“…but I cannot see how this research adds anything”
Au contraire! This is research that can be put to immediate, practical use. In, um, conversation with wives and girlfriends.
“What’s this ‘iStrip’ app on your iPhone?”
“Well, honey, if you really want to understand, you’ll need to check out some cutting-edge research out of the University of Montreal.”

i was going to post an old animated XXX “Fritz the Cat” clip that i actually found on youtube- but thought better of it-
anyway- for the younger crowd who may not be acquainted w/ Fritz the Cat-
go to youtube- many to chose from – but the original is simply called Fritz the Cat-
beware-
drugs, sterotypes and animated sex abound

The amount and availability of porn for the average person is higher now than ever before. I wonder what the effects of this will be over time? Maybe it is no big deal at all, but the amount and frequency that is currently available over the internet COULD be causing problems. The problem is that their aren’t any real studies on this. I wish their were…
A study showing a link between frequency* duration as it correlates between what someones looks for in a potential wife, GF, hook-up, any other term. Could it be that men that look at X hours(films, any variable really) per day are more likely to place a higher importance on, for example – looks (or categories for specific body parts), as opposed to number of previous partners, or any other variable. Their could be a ton of studies like this that could yield pretty interesting results.

And deficit is just over $1T… so it looks like Keynesian economics worked. Nice return.

Dude…just ask any church minister or marriage counselor what the effects of ‘this’ over time have been. Lots of divorces over it, plain & simple. Anyone who does any kind of marital counseling can tell you that it’s a virtual pandemic. I’ve read somewhere that the vast majority of divorces these days include spousal alienation due to porn.
By and large women don’t like it – a lot – when their men are into porn. The net effect is that it makes them feel threatened…less secure. And when/if they ever get fed up, the big “D” is next.
Don’t shoot me…I’m just the piano player…but that’s the fact of it.
December 10th, 2009 at 9:20 pm
Theodore D, your reply was an elegant and eloquent response…lol too bad the subject is bawdy and ribald!
December 10th, 2009 at 9:26 pm
Uno-
I’ve heard that as well, I just wanted to pose it that way so people that don’t know that don’t attack what I say. I guess I’m thinking about it from a pre-marraige standpoint though. It’s too bad their aren’t more studies on it considering the effects it has. Sounds like a fun little project though, doing some research and setting up a website to get questions.
December 11th, 2009 at 12:03 am
Does chart porn count?
December 11th, 2009 at 10:25 am
@Theodore D.
I suspected you knew the net effect, but thought I’d put an exclamation point on it.
Worth mentioning as well: the ladies lose respect for their (neo-ex)husbands, and in the end that’s all too often game-set-match when it comes to their Big D decision making.
December 11th, 2009 at 10:33 am
P.S. To all the guys who think porn is just knee-slapping funny and hilarious, just try asking a guy who’s getting divorced over it just how great it is. Especially if he has kid(s). Especially if he now rarely sees them as a result.
We all need to grow up on this topic…a lot of very real human pain is coming from it.
And here’s my own, personal exlamation mark: I’m signing divorce papers today…no bullshit. And I now rarely see the child I love so much.
December 11th, 2009 at 12:32 pm
This is likely funded by the ARRA… our “stimulus” $$$s at work!!!! I wish they would pay me to state the obvious!
