Agreed that Best Buy blows. I bought an LG 32 inch there on November 15, had such terrible service, and pissy checker outer, that I brought the TV back a week later on principle alone. Went across the street to HH Gregg, a place I’d never been before, and b0ught the same tv for 50.00 less. Hey, it’s a tank and a half of gas in a 2001 Acura TL with 181,000 miles.

Talk about deflation: man, tv prices are dropping so fast, it’s unclear as to when the right TO buy one really is. What’s a 32 inch LG 720p go for now? $75.00 bucks? I gave $500.00, 13 months ago.

oh well. I spent Rs. 65,000 (~$1400 on current exchange rates) on a 40″ Bravia here in Bangalore. And I had to go pick it up myself. Enjoy the TV!

i shopped em all hard in december, the bestbuy guys suggested a technical set up that cost 200 bucks, they showed the procedure and the diference in picture quality, after all it was said and done, i had a headached and passed, lol, that want need thing, i want yet what i got aint’t broken yet

just to give you people some context, i bought an earlier 40″ sony bravia 1080p set in october of 2007 for $1800 at costco, a deal of $200 off the closest competitor. i just picked up the same blu ray player for $200 at pc richards. to think if i would’ve waited 2 1/2 years i could’ve gotten both for $1150 less!

I checked out the Panasonic Vieras — there was a good sale at AMZN, and I loved the iPod interface — but its a model that is scheduled to be replaced shortly, so I decided not to go that way.

Barry, friends don’t let friends buy lcd over today’s Panny Plasmas :) I’m honestly kind of surprised you didn’t end up with a 46″ Panasonic s10, G10 (or for a bit more $, a v10) given how web savvy you are. Did you get a chance to browse the avsforum.com boards before pulling the trigger? The consensus over there for the past year has pretty much been: panasonic plasma = best picture, best value, best customer service etc.

(n.b. if price is important, check out the slickdeals.net forums – they’re one of the best/easiest places to find/be alerted of deals. If it’s not, then the superior picture quality will more than make up for the hassle of returning the sony ;)

Kudos to the Kuro

It may well be my future favorite toy also, either after we move and have a suitable location for it, or perhaps a bit sooner, if the circa ’92 27″ Sony TANK at last utters “no mas”. That thing is a beast though, so I suppose it’ll be the move that comes first.
