The BLS said that 1.031mm were unable to work in b/c of the weather vs the avg for Feb of 291k BUT the BLS said “in the establishment survey, the survey period was the pay period incl. Feb 12. In order for severe weather conditions to reduce the est. of payroll employment, employees have to be off work for an entire pay period and not be paid for the time missed. About 1/2 of all workers in the payroll survey have a 2 wk, semimonthly, or monthly pay period. Workers who received pay for any part of the survey period, even ONE hour, are counted in the Feb payrolls. While some persons may have been off payrolls during the survey period, some industries such as those dealing with cleanup and repair activities, may have added workers. In the household survey, the survey period was the week of Feb 7-13. People who miss work for weather related events ARE counted as employed whether or not they are paid for the time off.

Isn’t it wonderful how numbers can be manipulated to look better then they really are. Working one hour in a week and your considered employed. Still the government managed to hire another 7000 employees. Obama buying the votes one at a time.

Today I watched a story from San Francisco. The City like many other is broke, so they gave employees an option of being fired or remaining on the job, but just working a shorter week. I know all about the shorter week, Im on a three day work week. I didn’t complain, in fact I’m enjoying my four day weekends. But of course the San Fran employees who happen to be some of the highest paid folks in the country, were bitching and moaning and their union has already filed a suit against the city. Even with the shorter pay week, workers would still be making more then folks in mosts of the country.

San Fran is looking a lot like Greece where the Unions expect the workers to continue to be paid their full salaries and benefits, no matter that Greece or San Francisco is in deep shit. Faber’s predictions that state pensions and benefits will be the downfall of us all is coming sooner then we may believe. . Here in Pa. The governor simply passed the problem onto the future when he will be out of office. Its time that those of use who continue to pay those high pensions and benefits for the Unions stand up and revolt.

Its all we can stand, and we ain’t gonna take it anymore. I wish that were true.
