Nice Catch Barry. The only guy that doesn’t look happy is the working stiff driving the boat.

  2. Barry Ritholtz Says:

Nah, that’s just the photo. The lake is down about a foot or so due to low rain fall, and we were in an area that had some submerged boulders just below the surface. He is just concentrating intently on not killing everyone.

The group sells out the entire camp for the weekend, and uses 20 guides. I am told that the event is half the camp’s revenue for the year, and there is a waiting list to be a guide for the crowd. The crew pays top dollar for a canoe ($225 per day) and most attendees tip generously. ($300 per day).

One of the guides is having a rough year — he got cancer, and then had his house burn down this year. David Kotok passed a plate around, and the crew raised $14,000 for him.

i noticed that too. i think that is an indication that this depression is being dumped on the working man, and the big swinging d’s are still in high cotton.

i would never waste a trip to the lakes if i lived on long island in the summer. no better place on earth than long island in summer. lakes don’t come close. give me robert moses anyday with a million lumpenproles to share it with.

Unfortunately, Maine is a pretty poor state.

Our guide Matt actually specialized in Bear and Moose hunting trips . . . He just bought an old run down lodge (where Jackie Gleason used to stay) and is fixing it up.

I’ll eat Moose, but eating bear is almost . . . . cannabilism

  5. Ilya Says:

  6. How the Common Man Sees It Says:

What? No scenes of the virgins you guys sacrificed and the secret blood oaths you were taking?

BR: I tried, but they wouldn’t let me take any photos of that.

  7. Guambat Says:

  11. WFTA Says:

It’s a dark and lonely business, but somebody has to do it. We appreciate the sacrifice, Barry.
