The Fiat 500 appears to be heading to American shores as early as January 2011, a product of the Fiat takeover of Chrysler.  2011 will possibly see a convertible version of the Fiat 500, followed by an electric version in 2012.

Consumer Guide describes it as “Retro-cute, fun-to-drive small, and super-stingy with gas.” Expected US price: About $15k.

Ha! When I saw the heading I wasn’t sure you were talking about a car or some new government way to buy into the S&P 500 via the printing press.

  2. The Window Washer Says:

I’m a small car guy and after the rolling turd smart car this is chance at a good small car in the US.
I was hitchiking in 95 and got a ride in a 500 on the Autobahn, going over 100mph in a car built like a Geo Metro was blast. Held it’s own in the left lane. I’ve wanted one ever since.
I WILL TEST DRIVE THE FIRST ONE I CAN

Barry thanks for bringing back a great memory.

  3. impermanence Says:

I was the guy who had the only x1/9 that actually worked (sometimes :). Driving a Fiat was ALWAYS an adventure, but a ton of fun!
