Little North Korean Girl Playing Guitar 北朝鮮少女のギター演奏
Damn thing is bigger than her . . .
Her name is Kang Eunju. She belongs to Shin Hung Kindergarten in Hamhung City in North Korea. She is playing a tune from a children’s movie. The title of the movie is “Boy Commander”.

Not sure given the quality of the video, but I suspect there is a second guitar player somewhere – this sounds like a duet. For example, her right hand fingers just don’t look right during the tremolo segments. Once again, it could be due to sloppy video. I have a music degree, classical guitar was my instrument. Anyone else with classical guitar training think this looks/sounds fishy?

I have a degree in classical guitar performance and this appears to be totally legit to me. I even just played along with her and the video is synched up with her playing just right. That’d be almost as difficult to mime perfectly as it would be to play. It looks like she’s playing the tremolo with “I” and “A”. That’s how I usually tremolo too. She rocks!

I have no musical inclination but believe that if she can escape to the South, she could potentially have a bright future on the starcraft tournament circuit.

Of course she can’t play as good as the supreme leader leader Kim Jong II who hits a hole-in-one on every hole and has a “magical ability” to control the weather, among other things.

Has Clapton seen this? I wonder what he would think.
