Lobbyists received a non-negligible amount of help from Hill staffers, who keep score and make sure Congresscritters toe the line.

Like Senator Kauffman said to the HuffPo: “The system is just awful.”

But in my humble opinion, the entire system is going to come back and eat us alive in the near future. Take for example the Agro-biotechnology lobby, today it’s Frankenstein salmon and making it illegal to mark products “non-GMO” and tomorrow it’ll be all of our children born with severe autoimmune diseases.

Problem, reaction, solution is the best way to describe Washington’s strategy. Forward thinking is not rewarded in that city….

We need a third House of Congress, a House of Institutions. Reps from corporate world, universities, unions, environmentalists, energy cos, new energy advocates. Issues must be openly debated, votes transparent.

We also need a non-partisan organization to produce 1-2 page summaries of laws, with who had input.
