So here’s my question: is Carey trying to be offensive or is she too bleeping stupid to realize how offensive she is. Let’s see, only Jewish men are rich and brilliant. Gentiles are dull, she sings. Is she including Bill Gates. Brad Pitt. Donald Trump in that roundup?
I suppose being only rich doesn’t really count in Hollywood. It’s about control and Jews control Hollywood, right? She must be listening to Radio Islam because they make the same claim.
She claims that not on our best behavior we killed the Christian savior. She needs to take a course in Christian history because the last I checked, the Catholic Church blamed it on Pontius Pilate. But maybe she knows something the rest of us don’t.
And what does she want these Christ-killing rich Jews for? She doesn’t really say other than the
fact that they’re “chosem.” I guess after all the money she’s made, and platinum records she’s collected and the silicone injections she gets all that’s left is a “chosen” Jew.
She may need to watch a few films. I’d suggest Shoah, The boy in the Striped Pajamas, The Pawnbroker and Defiance would be a good place to start. Maybe then she could contemplate (if she has enough brain cells working …which I seriously doubt) what Jews are chosen for.

“Jew who runs show business,” “Jews millionaires” and “They may have killed our savior” are the ignorant mantra of the anti-Semites. What the hell is it about these phrases you find amusing? Do you also think Joseph Goebbels’s propaganda movies showing Jews with big noses, and being compared to rats, are amusing?
I don’t think the Holocaust, the pogroms, the Inquisition and two thousand years of persecution and anti-Semitism are funny either, but maybe I’m just “thin skinned” about words. After all, words harm harm Jews. Or do they?

For what it is worth there are those of us who see the humor in this and those of us who see it as subliminal anti semitism designed to remind the so called I’ll informed that they are supposed to dislike us. Both are valid and probably depend on our own individual comfort level in the greater society. Otherwise called paranoia level and/or strength of racial memory.

I am a non-believer gentile [with Zionist sympathies ever since reading Exodus in high school 44 years ago].
I am also overdosed on Santa this time of year.
I also like Mariah, the multi-racial, sugary pop diva with prodigious pipes and a soap-opera life.
Is this offensive? Sure. Holocaust survivors I have known would not “get” it [too old to know who Carey is, on top of other issues already noted].
All in all, I took this as a wicked send up of “Moriah” [now THAT was funny!], and of the overbearing Christmas culture, with perhaps a big hat tip to all those blockbuster Christmas movies created by Hollywood titans of the Hebrew persuasion. I think it is also mocking the type of “friends” who are supposedly “PRO Israel” but would try to convert all the Jews if given a chance.
I think probably a guy like Lenny Bruce [or maybe Mort Sahl] would get this.
I feel sorry for Mariah, for all the folks who think this is really her.

It isn’t about “getting it” or not. It’s not about being thin skinned or not. One or two ‘jokes’ might not ruffle my curls but this entire song was about Jews and Jewish stereotypes. It is offensive.
Comparing this to Lenny Bruce is an insult to Bruce. He was far edgier than this. He went beyond stereotypes and tried to break down cultural norms. This is extending cultural norms. There is nothing funny or ‘cool’ about this. And Lenny was very cool. Very.
Stick to the stock analysis Barry. You’re great at that. Drop the self-hating Jewish schtick.

Um, I said it was offensive. It is satirizing and mocking those stereotypes, not promoting them. You also seem to have missed a lot of stuff about pop culture, Christmas, etc. It really is NOT an “entire song… about Jews”.
In public school in the 1950s they used to read the King James Bible to us every day and my classmates were not all Protestants, so I know something about being force fed majority culture.
I am sorry, but I did not know about the “two Jew joke quota”, but I am old enough
to remember other quotas and restrictions! I think this new quota is going to put
a whole lot of creative folks [i.e. Jews] out of work, which would be more than offensive.

Let’s not get into a pissing contest. You and I differ in opinion but like Lenny (who I met at the Filmore when I was in high school) I get it. I do. And I don’t need a needle up my arm to do it. It’s offensive. Period. People are responding with their hearts not their minds so if you want to research who said what, when and how you’re missing the objection.

I find the video offensive and objectionable for more reasons than are mentioned in this thread.
The ancient slander about “Jews killing Jesus” referenced in the video was like a punch in the solar plexus
to me. It is 100% wrong, just like those who try to claim the cruelly executed [by the Romans!] Jewish teacher Jesus would be OK with their eager support for Capital Punishment.
I think the video has other merits, but thought it was needlessly cruel to the diva, whom like Obama is molded by a Bi-racial life experience [when the race fighting starts it can't be fun taking punches from both sides, so avoid fights], and it was not right to put those words in her mouth with no justification that I am aware of.
Lenny Bruce, who knew how to shock people for a purpose, I think would be himself shocked at the overall meanness and coarseness of American culture in the 21st century. He was not a mean guy.
When people talk about antisemitism [or criticise Israel] and the reflexive response is to condemn with phrases like “self hating Jew” it silences all debate. This self isolation is dangerous to any oppressed minority!
