I loved Joss Whedon’s sci-fi series Firefly, brief though it was, as well as Serenity, the movie that completed it. I was not the only fan, as the 3,321 five star customer reviews on Amazon attest to.

When the complete Firefly series came out on DVD, it was a must own for me — 11 episodes, plus 3 that never aired.

Now, Amazon is running their one day special on the Blu-Ray version for only $23.49 — about the same price as the regular DVD (3 discs instead of 4, but it appears to be the same content.

If you are unfamiliar with Whedon’s ouevre, you probably know his TV works (‘Buffy the Vampire Slayer and Angel).

If you are a sci-fi fan and have never seen either Firefly or Serenity, I strongly suggest you check ‘em out. (Netflix subscribers can stream both here).

Geez. No one to say amen about Barry’s blog item for the Firefly tv episodes and the Serenity movie? Is everyone too busy reading about risk management?

Firefly is fresh, choice and original sci-fi , but you have to appreciate sci-fi. Writing, character development, production values and themes are superior. Watch the tv episodes first, then you’ll be better able to appreciate the movie.

Thanks for your blog, Barry. You’ve also expanded my music horizons and I appreciate your sharing other odds and ends. I just wish I could grok the stock market.
