Books Bought By Big Picture Readers (June, 2011)
>
I always find it interesting to see what books TBP readers are buying. In addition to throwing off a few shekels, the Amazon code embedded in links lets me track your collective purchases. Its anonymous — I don’t know who bought what — but I can tell what everyone who clicked on a given book bought.
These are the most popular books purchased in June:
Go the F**k to Sleep (Adam Mansback)
The Other Side of Wall Street (Todd Harrison)
Bailout Nation (Barry Ritholtz)
Boomerang (Michael Lewis)
This Time Is Different (Carmen M. Reinhart & Kenneth S. Rogoff)
Stock Market Wizards (Jack D. Schwager)
Dog Sense (John Bradshaw)
A Game of Thrones (George R. R. Martin)
The Big Short (Michael Lewis)
The Bean Trees (Barbara Kingsolver)
Lost Horizon (James Hilton)
Too Big To Fail (Andrew Ross Sorkin)

TBTF was kiss ass drivel, sorry Andrew Ross…surprised you fell for it…hmm…
The Big Short was pretty good, not his best…enjoyed the tale of the three protagonists…
This Time is Different – was a challenge for me…i get many of the concepts, but it was a difficult read……
…now, down to the essence of the post – Bailout Nation – have to say, I totally dug it and understood it…

If you had kids, Barry, you’d get “Go the F*&^k to Sleep…”
It has huge appeal. I wish I’d thought of it…God knows I yelled it enough…

i finished Pygmy by Chuck (“WTF”) Palahniak and can’t wait to read more of his writing (funny and quick).
Now i’m re-reading an old Aldous Huxley book called Island which makes one think about alternatives.
i have a bag full of Preacher graphing novels(quick 1/2 hour reads) to go through after that (my nephew loaned them out to me).
This morning i was greeted with this interesting development:
http://news.yahoo.com/case-against-strauss-kahn-near-collapse-report-013823812.html
which the site Cryptogon predicted when it was first reported (that it was a “set up” by the powers that be to remove and replace him).
and ya gotta hear Stewart in this segment, Broke Bank Mounting:

Just finished Zeitoun. I could not put the book down. Unreal that can happen in modern day America.

You like ideas. Have you checked out “Sum” by David Eagleman? Very short. Dry sense of humor.
