    And things are supposed to improve out of optimism? I don’t understand the media being constantly surprised, month after month.

    You gotta love Davidowtiz’s passion. Of course he is right about a lack of confidence (or trust if you prefer) in our institutions. But optimism is not the opposite of a lack of confidence. In fact, optimism in half-assed proposals is part of the problem. If Reinhart and Rogoff are right confidence will not come for awhile. By then perhaps the narrowly self-interested arguments will be spent and maybe we can make some progress.

    Have you guys been to England? Confidence never came back. Most there are without passion or drive and many are alcoholics.
