There are some intangible things Apple has: Creativity is worth more than the wars our destructive mofo’s wage.
God is creative, Satin isn’t.

Funny, but let’s not lose sight of the fact that HP is now the world’s #1 tablet vendor:
HP TouchPad mania: TouchPads selling out in U.S. at $99.99
Hewlett-Packard’s TouchPad is finally enjoying a sales boom. All it took to move the previously slow-selling tablet was a $99 price point.

Hewlett-Packard’s TouchPad was originally priced a $499
So as long as they give them away at 80% off, and below cost, its a hot product.
Sure, they lose tons of money on every sale, but they make it up in volume!

Apotheker was “Let go” by SAP. WOuld you buy a used tablet from this man?
The comparison with the European Banks is revealing. We can perhaps conclude that, unlike the Banks, Apple actually makes useful innovations and adds value to society, rather than just to the bonuses of its executives?
August 20th, 2011 at 7:48 pm
Apple *should* be worth more than most banks combined. For the past 10 years, it seems most banks have been in the businesses of making loans that can’t be repaid. There’s no profit in counterfeiting except to the counterfeiter.

The funny thing is that in about a week, there will be more Touchpads running Android than WebOS! =)

OMG OMG there are zillions and zillions of devices running Android these days! Way more than iOS. How much does Google make on that? Not a whole lot. Share of profits is the onlt thing that’s important, and no one can touch Apple on that.

Is there any worse managed company than HPQ? They make Sears/Kmart look brilliant.
Not only do they look world class stupid with the tablet and phones they undermine the value of the PC business they are also planning to exit.
Wonder how many tablet HP produced? There’s supposed to be more deep discount inventory available mon morn.

@Thor
How were the share profits on Betamax?
August 22nd, 2011 at 2:47 am
HP is just trying to get rid of all touchpads in stock so that they can completely cut the entire thing as soon as possible.

Apple has the most money laying around these days, However, a good question for them would be, why have they not done anything with that cash?
Also keep in mind, compared to microsoft, apple is growing at a slower pace because of the lack of apple’s overseas market. Apple has also stymied its own market for the ipod with the iphone. SHould investors not worry at least a little about a company that crosses its own market?
The comparison of the world banks is the only comparison in this statement worth mentioning (although the obesity one is funny) on a large scale. However, the idea that apple having more cash than the total tax income is depressing, as well as the thought of how much of that tax is coming from apple. The government should ask apple for a cheap loan.
Another good question is, why would companies like Sony, HP, and microsoft create products ( like the ps3 and xbox) only to have to stomach negative quarters at first ( in the XBOX’s case, for that division of microsoft) 1.9 billion in the red for the 06-07 year. thus making a profitable year a headline. Shouldn’t companies be more like apple and create products that revolutionize the industry (ipod) instead of jumping on the bandwaggon and thus use their resources to create something with the same profit margins as apple?
The opposing arguement would be products like the android where they hope to sell multiple times as many more in order to achieve the same profits.
As of right now, it seems like apple is winning that battle.
But be worried about apple if steve jobs quits and they run out of ideas, apple is over the sweet zone for stocks @361$ when many investors say 200$ is a good time to split the stock.
