Here is a silly question: Why is the MBAA.org site down?

Instead of this:

I get this:
Category: Real Estate, Web/Tech
Please use the comments to demonstrate your own ignorance, unfamiliarity with empirical data and lack of respect for scientific knowledge. Be sure to create straw men and argue against things I have neither said nor implied. If you could repeat previously discredited memes or steer the conversation into irrelevant, off topic discussions, it would be appreciated. Lastly, kindly forgo all civility in your discourse . . . you are, after all, anonymous.

Maybe they strategically defaulted on their IP address and saw a cheaper place uptown

On a related note, BR, why is your recent Occupy Wall Street post gone?

BR: This one ?

5 minute slueth:
ping mbaa.org and you get 173.233.48.94 as the destination IP. Whois tells us this:
American Registry for Internet Numbers NET173 (NET-173-0-0-0-0) 173.0.0.0 – 173.255.255.255
iCore Networks, Inc. ICORE (NET-173-233-48-0-1) 173.233.48.0 – 173.233.63.255
Mortgage Bankers Association MORTGAGEBANKERSASSOCIATION (NET-173-233-49-0-1) 173.233.49.0 –
173.233.49.255
Do a whois query on mbaa.org and get this:
Mortgage Bankers Association of America MBAA (NET-204-255-124-0-1) 204.255.124.0 –
204.255.124.255
MCI Communications Services, Inc. d/b/a Verizon Business UUNETCBLK252 (NET-204-252-0-0-1)
204.252.0.0 – 204.255.255.255
American Registry for Internet Numbers NET204 (NET-204-0-0-0-0) 204.0.0.0 – 204.255.255.255
The IP responds to pings, but it’s a no-go from telnet. What’s this mean? My guess is the site is down for maintenance and the b-team network operations folks neglected to put up a “sorry” page.
Um. It was BoA Friday and Saturday. (Off and on Saturday but so slow it would log you off while you waited for a page to load.)
Because their website management is as stellar as their risk management?
Must be hacking by the “islamosocialist, anti semtic, america hating anti wall street protesters”
should have read “terrorists” not protesters…
Sweet, I bought so many swaps on this outcome. I’m rich.
The master brewers association of America http://www.mbaa.com seems much better managed site.
There is a notice “The MBAA website will be down from 5-9pm Central Time US, Wed Oct. 5th for scheduled maintenance.”
A sign of the times I suppose..
Thanks for the link to http://www.ritholtz.com/blog/2011/10/wall-street-protest/, BR.
I’ve noticed before that some posts disappear from the main page and/or never show up on your RSS feed. Kinda odd. Anyway, thanks again.
