Are all of these Apple people really gonna pay $1500 for a 42″ tv samsung sells for $750.
It wouldn’t surprise me but I’d still call it crazy…
Of course this is as true of any other smart phone as of the iphone. The real answer is the one at the end – stop lemminglike upgrading!

never really saw the purpose of a smart phone. other than to enable the cell phone companies to make more in profit of their customers
This is just another dumb “green” story telling us to buy old tech or no tech. Just like you should still be using or find another fool to reuse your old 1998 era computer.

This is SAD and should not be reprinted.
1 – It could be said of ANY phone. Therefore the writer should be questioned.
2 – Apple is the most active and progressive on “supplier audits”. They deserve your purchase if you CARE about the workforce and development of rights and laws in other countries.
3 – It could actually be said of ALL ELECTRONICS, COMPUTERS, MEDICAL DEVICES… actually I hear that dismantling ships is the most toxic. No more shipped goods for me!
This kinda thing is like the environmentalist fighting nuclear. So they got coal! What a bunch of idiots!
The JOY the iPhone (and other tech products) brings me is cheap at 10X the cost.
This is why they make so much money and why its not about price.
Look at what the iPhone does for you:
1. Talk on the phone. Oh yeah, you can video chat with FaceTime! Oh yeah, it works wonderfully! Oh yeah… ITS FREE ANYWHERE IN THE WORLD on WiFI! So if Im in a hotel in Tokyo and I want to talk with my kids… its instant and video, and free.
Seriously? Should I just stop right there? Cuz I kinda blew my own mind.
2. Its basically like my laptop. So I am at work, and I don’t have to EVEN GO TO WORK. Which is fun, hilarious, and mega-productive. I can read all news, emails, even diagrams and attachments open and manage well. I can bring up my desktop computer (on an app) and get access to any files, etc.
Seriously? Did I just blow your mind again?
3. Its like a $5000 camera, and a $1mln photo developing and effects studio from the 90s. Seriously. I can take beautiful pictures (the 4S is outstanding) and I can develop (its digital) and I can cut, crop, and do all sorts of fixes, including effects. Instagram is simply amazing. Oh, and I can quickly email or SMS or update these to Twitter, Facebook, etc.
Seriously? Why would anyone want that… its probably too expensive. Where is the 1hr photo mat! That was so much better and environmental.

I’ve looked at the tear down’s of recent iPhones, they do not appear to use any tantalum capacitors, the mostly seem to be ceramics. In small high tech electronics tantalum are problematic, they take lots of space, they have pure surge performance and are heat sensitive, they are generally used for higher power power ciruits in routers and servers, but even there they are being replaced by a new generation of aluminum electrolytic capacitors. So hooray for Apple and less dependency on Coltran.
