This report raises troubliing questions arising from its aggressive accounting in valuing surplus customer funds that were used to finance MF Global’s business, to Corzine’s continued doubling down on his European bets, the firing of Michael Roseman, the apparent resignation of his North American CFO over the use of customer monies, the disfunctional reporting structure of MF Global and the failure to address the lack of risk controls identified in MF Global’s internal audits. All this while both Corzine and Steenkamp signed off on their Sarbanes Oxley compliance. As a former CFO of Goldman, and a former Senator and Governor Corzine knew better. Eric Holder and the DOJ need to explain to MF Global customers, Congress and the American people why Corzine and Steenkamp are not being prosecuted for failings under SOX when they said risk controls were adequate.
