Not surprising to anyone sitting on a trading desk today but the NYSE consolidated total volume was the slowest full trading day of the year with the half day before July 4th the only one slower.

    Do you think that Knight Capital crapping their shorts and getting everyone in management fired thusly encouraging the HFT crowd to do a little bit more testing of their software might have something to do with it?

    Personally, I don’t put much weight behind Index volume as a market metric. It’s mostly synthetic.

    There seems to be a growing malise about investing in the markets…..as RoseAnn Roseanna Dana used to say “Its always something” and many people are just tired of the continuous crap, lamebrained excuses from the SEC, inept market operators and institutional game playing. Obviously I am.
