Arrested Development: The Complete Series: Amazon is having another of its one-day sales, with this $90 set for $27. (Last time we mentioned this one day sale, it was $29).

The award winning series is 8 Discs of hilarity, written by Mitchell Hurwitz, starring Jason Bateman, Michael Cera, Portia de Rossi, Will Arnett & David Cross. AR is a clever, self-referential oddity. The writing is outstanding, the cast is pitch perfect. Over 1000 reviews on Amazon, and it still has a 5 star rating (See also: IMDB).

AR was the winner of Outstanding Comedy Series Emmy its first year out for its whacky, mockumentary-style idiosyncracies. The show 5 Emmyied its way to early cancellation. There must be something freeing about accepting the inevitabliliy of cancellation. The attitude seemed to be, “Hey, we are gonna get cancelled anyway, so WTF — lets just write the funniest show we want to write for ourselcvs and not pander to the suits or focus groups. Laugh track? We don’t need no stinkin’ laugh track.

Unless Comedy Central or FX revives the show, the only thing we should expect in the future is an Arrested Development movie.

If you have never seen an episode of Arrested Development, prepare yourself for a brilliantly written satire.

    Barry,

Netflix is filming 10 more episodes this summer, to be released next year:

I hope they keep the show going and I hope they keep up the writing quality. At least one good thing will happen in 2013.

At least there is always the Ben and Jerry’s flavor:
