Interesting that the only lie Colbert shows was not actually a lie. CNN caught the fact checkers in a lie.
Apparently while the plant was dwindling it did close after Obama took office according to a CNN’s research.
But as Colbert says himself if you tell a lie often enough it becomes true. Only the truth is Colbert spread the lie this time
GM officially announced that the plant would be closed on June 3, 2008, well before the election. The plant was working a very limited number of employees and had layed off over 750 people before Obama took the oath of office.
However, you are correct. The doors were not locked and the lights were not turned off for the last time until after Obama had been elected.
Just the facts. I guess it’s up to the reader to determine which account of the incident is the most “untrue”.
Huseein Obozo is losing and his followers are panicking :-) The tide has turned and Obozo’s 2008 voters have turned against him. As it should be for the worst President, America has EVER had. In addition to disastrous leftist policies which never ever work, this bloke is Anti-American as demonstrated by his constant criticism of the US overseas and his obsequious bowing to assorted leaders.
Apparently we have a James Buchanan fan on the blog: carlos501b; I am afraid his blog says more about him then it does about a President. I expect this guy lost his shirt under Shrub Presidency to and has made a fortune with the market snap back in 2009-2010. But apparently he longs for the Iraq war and the great market crash of 2008.
Sorry, but the plant was being shutdown. Your lie on the fact checker’s lie, equals a lie. The plants was being closed anyway. Who cares when it happens or how it happens. It was being shut down.
Some sad Republican posts tonight………..likely by the same guy.
Hey, Colbert, you’re right on target here ! Clearly, the GOP ticket has a huge “character” problem.
Romney whom more than 60% of Americans “dis-like” bullied his opponents out of way during the GOP primaries wit litany of exaggerations. This guy who has “more shades than a chameleon”, is now running away from his record as Governor of Massachusetts (remember RomneyCare..?)… and won’t release his Tax Returns until, well, very close to (or after…?) the elections in November.
Now comes “pretty-boy” Ryan who joins this ticket of “holier-than-thou” pretenders with a fiery speech at the GOP Convention full of fact-twisting and lies that would make even Richard Nixon blush…!
As if this was not enough, last week this frat-boy Ryan also indulged in more lies concerning his physical prowess by boasting about his Marathon run in less than 4 hours…! Ryan would have continued this lie were it not for the astute interviewer (an experienced runner himself) who reminded Ryan that such an “feat” would be mind-boggling.
Yes, you guessed it, Ryan quickly recanted.. . after realizing he had been caught lying…!
Big Question: Who can trust a “Budget or Deficit Reduction Plan” coming from a “LIAR” with a B.A. in Political Science (Donald Trump may want to ask for his grades…); and whose only private-sector job was working for his dad’s construction firm -which incidentally received plenty of government-funded infrastructure work…?
Great clip! Even better were the two segments with Jon Huntsman. A brilliant guy who refused to check his brain (and common sense) at the door, thus, the party apparatchik tossed him under the bus. He’d make a great third-party candidate.
motfool, you’re pathetic. And a liar. As is Ryan.
Whatever your political stripes or spots may be, you have to admit that Colbert is funny as HECK… I think that first and foremost, Barry was trying to gift us with a good laugh… I don’t have a window into his mind, but the man doth have a great sense of humor. Barry, for that we thank you…..
Best regards,
