Last week, we published Bob Lefsetz’ discussion of The Daft Punk Album. Tonite, a couple of outstanding covers of a few songs on the album:

—————————————-——————————-

San Cisco put a different spin on Daft Punk’s huge tune ‘Get Lucky’ with some very unique percussion (read: bongos).

Like A Version is a segment on Australian radio station triple j. Every Friday morning a musician or band comes into the studio to play one of their own songs and a cover of a song they love.

Interesting. Just like RAM or any other Daft studio piece.

But it’s really mixing to crowds that Daft comes to life.

Hope those kids will also get their crowd.

I think these covers are interesting interpretations and highlight the unique instrumentation and feel of the respective band/soloist. It’s a good song that inspires many possible versions. Still the covers make me further appreciate the deep groove, nuanced playing and meticulous arrangement of the original recording even more.

A friend of mine represents San Cisco and sent this over just after they did it, absolutely fantastic I thought, a very interesting group in their own right also.
