The ‘Corporate Debt (OAS)’ figure is misleading at best, certainly poorly titled. Any graphic showing the option-adjusted spread on investment grade corporate debt is obviously going to have a downward trend when interest rates are artificially low. A graphic showing the trend of corporate debt issuance and/or debt levels would be better suited for the title of corporate debt. A better title for this figure would be ‘Corporate Credit Spreads (OAS)’.
