Our philosophy is straight forward. We do not “predict the future” because, quite frankly, we stink at it.

And by "we," I refer to “we human beings.”

We have yet to come across anyone who consistently, accurately foretells the future. (If you manage to discover such a person, by all means, please let us know!).

Sure, we do all the annual forecasts. Sometimes, we even end up making some good calls. But we view that as luck, and not real analysis or asset management.  Indeed, we note that many strategists are so busy predicting the future that they forget to learn the lessons of the past. Even worse, they ignore what the markets are saying to them right now.

Not us. We try to suss out what is going on here and now and why. Understanding what is happening beneath the headlines – and how things got this way – puts us head and shoulders ahead of the crowd.

Based on our present understanding, we lay out what the most likely few alternatives are. We assess their probabilities; We digest how these potentially impact various asset classes. We base our investing profile on the highest probability outcomes – but also maintain a careful watch on alternative scenarios.

Because of this approach, we are not emotionally tied up with any one investment outcome. We are free to reverse directions when circumstances dictate. The concern is not with being "right" on any prediction – but rather, with making money for our investors and clients.

We find it to be quite liberating to be able to say: "Hey, that investment decision was wrong – let’s take a small loss and move on."

That's something too few investment advisory services seem willing or able to do. They will recommend a specific stock, sector or investment posture, and stay married to it.

Not us. We sign a prenup agreement with every position we take. If we catch a stock “philandering,” if a market call goes against, us, we file for an immediate investment divorce.

It is a different approach – one we suspect you find refreshing.
