Early 18th century broadside on the South Sea Bubble in the British Museum. Not quite as funny by 21st century standards, but there you go.

Awesome article in the NY Times on a awkward but highly effective treatment for C difficile infections.

Awesome because it shows that some doctors are starting to wake up to the fact that we, humans, are not single organisms but hosts to huge, mostly beneficial, bacterial colonies. Bacterias in a healthy human body are about 10 times as numerous as human cells properly said.

Give it another few decades and doctors may even start to rediscover the existence of >bacteriophages, useful viruses that could outdo antibiotics for fighting certain infectious diseases.
